Electrical Safety Tests For Landlords From the 1st of June 2020 only applying to England, it became a legal requirement that all electrical installations within private rental properties are thoroughly tested by a qualified electrician before a new tenancy started on the 1st of July 2020. Any existing tenancies have until the 1st of April 2021. Electrical safety tests must be carried out every 5 years to ensure all appliances are safe to use.
